DGR 7.10.A: Personnel Responsible for Screening of Passengers and Crew and their Baggage, Cargo and Mail

Target Group

The course is designed to guide you in the tasks and responsibilities to ensure that you are competent to perform your job function and be in full compliance with the regulations. It has been designed as per IATA’s DGR – section 1.5 and in accordance with function 7.10 in IATA’s -Dangerous Goods Training Guidance.

Course Content

  • Understanding the basics of dangerous goods
  • Recognizing dangerous goods
  • Indicators within documentation or packages of undeclared dangerous goods
  • Report dangerous goods accidents

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and classify dangerous goods
  • Interpret hazard communication
  • Detect hidden dangerous goods in cargo and mail
  • Check documentation and packages for indications of undeclared dangerous goods
  • Explain the basic Emergency Response procedures

Pre-requisites

  • Recommended level is Entry-level and Intermediate
  • The recommended level of language proficiency is ICAO Operational Level 4 or the equivalent

Eligibility Criteria

  • Airport or ground handling staff involved in screening baggage, cargo and mail
  • Security service providers staff involved in screening baggage, cargo and mail
  • Security operations managers and supervisors

Delivery Method

  • Classroom-based learning including lectures, exercises, case studies and final assessment

Examination

  • The participant is required to score at least 80% to pass the mastery test

Certificate Awarded

The participant will be awarded with a GAA – IATA completion certificate upon successful completion of the course.
