Program Overview

This model course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for the training of masters, officers, ratings and other personnel on passenger ships, to provide competence and enhance the knowledge required to enable the candidates to handle critical situations on board. In accordance with the Regulation V/2, paragraph4, 5 and 6, and as specified in STCW Code Section A-V/2 paragraph 1, 2 and 32 based on the guidelines of IMO model course 1.28.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Control a crowd in an emergency situation on board
  • Locate essential safety and emergency equipment on board
  • Communicate effectively with passengers during an emergency
  • Demonstrate the use of personal life-saving appliances
  • Comply with the ship’s safety and emergency procedures

Familiarization Training or Basic Safety Training

Examination & Passing Criteria

The participant would need to sit for a final examination towards the end of the training program and secure a minimum of 80% in order to pass

Certificate Awarded

A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the course and passing the final examination. The certificate will be issued by GAA and is accepted by Bahrain’s Ports and Maritime Affairs Directorate
