Program Overview
With the international change in training procedures, it became a mandatory requirement for all individuals even with prior experience to demonstrate proficiency in basic safety, or obtain practical skills through a structured learning program. STCW-2010 offers the minimum legal requirement for anyone working aboard commercial/merchant and fishing vessels and fulfills the requirements of IMO standards and STCW-2010 regulations.
After completion of this programme, the participant will be able to:
Personnel working on the following vessels if they operate seaward of the boundary line:
A minimum written test score of 70%. Students that fail the test will undergo remediation and be allowed 1 retest. A second failure requires repeating the course before they may take the test again. Student must satisfactorily perform handson evolutions as required by USCG.
A “Combined Basic Training Certificate” will be issued upon completion which will allow the candidate to be engaged in employment on-board a Commercial or Merchant Vessel. The certificate will be issued by GAA and is accepted by Bahrain’s Ports and Maritime Affairs Directorate.
