Program Overview

The OJTI course is designed for licensed ATCOs appointed in the role of Training Officer in an operational environment or training academy. The course will equip the participant with the relevant knowledge, techniques and strategies to conduct training sessions and manage the interaction with the trainee during on-the-job training. Designed for qualified air traffic controllers, the course aims to cover all aspects of On the Job Training Instruction (OJTI). It teaches prospective OJTIs to prepare, train, monitor, and assess both trainees in an initial qualification programme, as well as qualified controllers fulfilling Unit competency requirements. The syllabus was developed following the guidelines of Eurocontrol Doc. 764977 Guidelines for ATCO Development Training OJTI Course Syllabus, Edition 2.0, 2009

Learning Objectives

On completion of this course the participant will have the required knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSA’s) necessary to perform the role of OJTI for license endorsement purposes.

Examination

  • Written examination at the end of the course. Minimum of 70% required to pass.

Pre-requisites

  • Hold an ATCO license with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the rating in which the OJTI endorsement will be issued, in order to commence unit training as an OJTI under supervision.

ATCOs selected for the role of OJTI.

Delivery

    A maximum of 12 students are allowed per course. Delivered by a qualified instructor.
