Duration : 12 weeks (300 hours)
This course is designed to prepare students for commencement of unit training towards an initial rating as an Area Controller in a procedural and/or surveillance environment. The syllabus was developed to align with ICAO Doc 10056 Manual on Air Traffic Controller Competency-based Training and Assessment, 1st Edition 2017.
On completion of this course the participant will have the required knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSA’s) necessary to commence on-the-job training as an Area Controller Procedural & Surveillance (ACP/ACS) for ICAO licensing purposes.
The following subjects are delivered in the course:
Students that require the underpinning knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to commence further training towards an Air Traffic Controller Approach rating at an ATS unit.
A minimum of 6 students and maximum of 16 students are allowed per course. Delivered by a qualified ATC Instructor. Instructor to student ratio shall not exceed 1:16 in classroom sessions and 1:1 in practical simulation sessions.
