Capt.Dhaffer Al Abbasi – Chief Executive Officer.
Capt. Dhaffer Al Abbasi joined Gulf Aviation Academy in 2012 with over two decades of experience in the aviation industry as a commercial pilot. After completing the Airline Ab-Initio Training Programme at the University of North Dakota in 1990, he joined Gulf Air where he held several positions such as A330 Command Upgrade Assessor, CRM Facilitator and A320 ACARS Coordinator, and Assistant Project Manager.
In 2007, he was appointed as Fleet Manager A320 where he also oversaw the induction and administration of the Embraer Fleet. Capt. Al Abbasi has attended several aviation and management courses in the Middle East and Europe adding to his extensive knowledge of the industry.
Currently, Capt. Al Abbasi holds A320 and A330 operating licenses. He is also a certified Training Captain and Examiner on the A320 aircraft.

Eng. Husain Bushehri – Manager Quality Assurance
With over two decades of experience in the Quality Assurance field, Eng. Husain Bushehri joined Gulf Aviation Academy in 2010.
After completing his B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in USA, he started his career with Bahrain Airport Services as an Aircraft Engineer. In 2002, Eng Husain completed his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hull, UK and after that moved to Gulf Air’s Technical Quality Assurance department.
In 2008 Eng. Bushehri was part of Mena Aerospace’s startup team, an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holder, where he was in charge of the airline’s Quality Assurance and Safety Management System. Currently, Eng. Bushehri is responsible for the Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring systems within GAA as well as ensuring all various GAA approvals are up to date.
Mr. Binu Thomas – Manager Finance & Accounts
Mr. Binu Thomas, a member of the company’s Executive Management Committee that is responsible for formulating the company’s strategic plans, identifying and structuring of investment opportunities, has actively participated in the company’s rapid and successful local and international expansion plan. Joining in 2011, Mr. Binu Thomas brought a wealth of finance and accounts experience to Gulf Aviation Academy following more than 11 years in similar roles at from other multi-national companies.
Prior to joining GAA, Mr. Binu started his career with global leading professional firm KPMG, where he was involved in a wide range of clients in Islamic and conventional financial services, Aviation, Real Estate and public sector gaining experience in auditing, all aspects of financial accounting and general financial advice.
Mr. Binu is an Associate Member of Institute of Cost Accountants of India from the Republic of India and holds an MBA in Financial Management from SM University, India, and a Masters in Commerce from the University of Pune, India.
